We took
one part Currie Tech. CR36V450 Electric Bike and one part Crystalyte Hub Motor,
put it together for one lean mean street machine! Form follows function
fantastically in this dual motor system designed to concur some steep Portland
hills, and with the dual battery pack, provides a commute range from Milwaukee
to Beaverton. Ask about making one for you!

Here
is a rear drive Trek. Our friend in Hood
River, Oregon, has some steep hills to climb, but it's working!
Rear drive gives better traction, whereas front drive grips less on gravel or
dirt hills when going up hill, but front generally gives you better handling,
pulling you into a turn much like front wheel drive in cars.
Jason went for the standard commuter bike adapted with a front hub motor.
Many of our clients are commuters who love to ride to work, but has a hill or
two in the way that required some assistance so they do not get to work all
sweaty and stinky. Phew!
A triumph of form and function, this electrified
EZ-trike is for a
heart attack victim that needed to regain his stamina by cycling, but needed the
power to get back home if his heart started having trouble. Brilliant!
In the ministry, a great group of men and women from a Monastery and convent
in California who we enjoyed so much working with to build their kit. A testament to their
beliefs, the Mother of the Convent did not covet the Bishop's new Crystalyte Trike... they
came back and got one for themselves! Thanks to these wonderful men and
women who serve their faith in humility and dignity. We will never forget
you.
AK loved her trike so much, her husband got one as well. Together they
have put over a thousand miles riding together. Mr. AK is also in the
ministry (yes, this is a trend - some people
know that it's simply the right thing to do, for today and for our future
generations) A great way to explore an area without burning up tons of
fuel for an RV or Camper.
MB had us build an electric "Chariot" to go to the Burning Man event -
no doubt dressed as a gladiator. It's a home made trike with a
large platform behind the seat. Using a 750W motor and 72V, this
is one chariot that would make the Romans drool!
From the east coast:
"Attached is a photo of my 'completed' custom EV Warrior
III. It uses the 505 motor with the 35amp
controller, powered by a
double string of 12V, 7A batteries to make 36V, 14A.
In a recent run at Mason-Dixon Dragstrip it did the 1/8 mile
in less than 28 seconds. The lights and other extras
are powered by a solar panel recharged 12V cell phone
battery.
Thanks for including me in your photo file."
Doc Kennedy, Mountain Lightning Racing Team
Also from Doc, his label "Doc's Folly", is a trike with solar
cells on an upper canopy. Interesting...

Batteries Packed!
Here is a simple,
if not particularly attractive solution for finding a place for extra batteries.
I would recommend some double sided sticky foam tape though in all the places
where the batteries have pressure applied to the to minimize shock damage and
physical wear on the battery itself.

Another nice recumbent trike with Hub Motor
from our friend in the Seattle area, it's really cool what you can do with a
trike and a hub motor:
One of the first recumbent tricycles we custom built. A wonderful 72 year
old woman now enjoys riding with the hubby on a sunny afternoon. Go get 'em!
Sun EZ trike with a 500 watt, dual speed hub motor, 36V controller, and
loads of love.
